Mindful Parenting: A Group for Parents Whose Own Childhood was Less Than Mindful

Parenting can be challenging, rewarding, exhausting, and push us to grow on many levels. Many parents may themselves have received parenting that was anywhere from insufficient, through to traumatic - typified by abuse, neglect, or abandonment. This psycho-educational group will encourage parents to be mindful in their parenting through active reflection on the parenting they received, reflecting on their current parenting style, and through nurturing mindfulness in creating healthy attachments with their kids as they grow and develop. Issues for discussion may include: boundaries, healthy expression of emotions, discipline, dealing with critical incidents, forming healthy attachments, communication skills and self-care skills for parents.
